Right-wing commentator and agitator Milo Yiannopoulos has been deported from the United States back to Britain following his arrest by federal immigration authorities in Louisiana, according to government statements and news reports.
Yiannopoulos was taken into custody on Friday by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers at the New Orleans airport. The Trump administration confirmed the arrest, identifying Yiannopoulos during the enforcement action.
Detained at New Orleans Airport
Immigration enforcement officers moved to detain Yiannopoulos after he was identified as an illegal alien in the United States. The arrest took place at the airport in New Orleans before federal authorities processed him for removal from the country.
Yiannopoulos initially rose to media prominence as a figure during the Gamergate controversy and later became an early public supporter of Donald Trump.
Removal to the United Kingdom
Following his detention by ICE officers in Louisiana, reporting confirmed that Yiannopoulos was formally deported and sent back to the United Kingdom.
