TSA Abruptly Scraps TSA Gold+ Private Security Program Nationwide
The Transportation Security Administration has abruptly scrapped its private-security program, known as TSA Gold+, nationwide.
The decision follows developments at participating facilities, including Tampa International Airport, which backed out of the initiative prior to the agency’s nationwide cancellation.
Controversial Security Model Ended
TSA Gold+ was introduced as a new airport security and screening model involving private-security elements. However, the initiative faced controversy and resistance, leading key participating airports to withdraw and prompting federal officials to terminate the program across the country.
