Florida Couple Charged After Allegedly Confining 4 Children in Semi-Truck for Years
Florida state authorities have filed criminal charges against a woman and her fiancé after finding that four children were held captive and abused inside the cab of a tractor-trailer for over six years.
Officials, including the Florida Attorney General, characterized the commercial vehicle as a “rolling prison” and a “rolling dungeon,” detailing years of severe confinement and physical and sexual abuse endured by the young victims inside the truck’s cabin.
Years of Confinement in a Tractor-Trailer Cab
According to law enforcement records and state prosecutors, the four children were kept hidden inside the semi-truck cab for nearly seven years. Authorities stated that the couple utilized the mobile setting to keep the victims isolated from the public and undetected by child welfare agencies while traveling across regions.
Investigators detailed that during the prolonged ordeal, the children were subjected to continuous physical abuse, severe neglect, and confinement under hazardous conditions within the vehicle.
State Prosecutors Seek Death Penalty
Following the arrests, the Florida Attorney General announced that the state intends to seek the death penalty against the couple given the extreme nature and duration of the alleged crimes.
The defendants face multiple criminal counts, including aggravated child abuse, child neglect, and false imprisonment. Legal proceedings are ongoing as law enforcement continues to review evidence recovered from the semi-truck.
